Guide details
Before you begin
Restore squad or command voice by checking Windows detection, privacy, default communication devices, in-game routing, PTT, audio format, and network state.
The current Team17 Windows VOIP checks used by the Hell Let Loose support path, applied cautiously to Hell Let Loose: Vietnam without claiming an unverified game-specific menu test.
- Status
- Current Team17 support path; game-specific menu labels may vary
- Edition

- Check note
- Team17 currently routes Hell Let Loose: Vietnam support through the Hell Let Loose help center. The checks below follow that official VOIP article, while exact Vietnam menu wording remains version-dependent.
Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- Connect and select the intended microphone before launching the game.
- Confirm the device records or passes a Windows input test outside the game.
- Note current keybinds and audio choices before attempting any configuration reset.
Visual reference
Fix the voice path before rejoining a full squad#

Route 02
Restore microphone and VOIP in order#
Stop as soon as a test transmission works. The early checks are reversible and isolate the most common device-routing failures.
Verify Windows input and privacy access#
Open Windows sound input, select the intended microphone, and confirm its level meter responds. Allow microphone access for desktop apps in Windows Privacy settings.
Set the default communication device#
In the classic Sound control panel, open Recording, right-click the microphone, and set it as the default communication device. Disable Stereo Mix if it is active.
Match the in-game input and output#
Open the game's audio options and select the same microphone and listening device. Avoid leaving either choice on a disconnected headset or unused virtual device.
Check format and push-to-talk#
Keep the device sample rate at or below 192000 Hz, then rebind the affected push-to-talk action and test the squad or command channel again.
Restart and change one network variable#
Restart the game after device changes and test another server. If voice alone still fails, restart the router; treat IPv6 changes as a later network isolation step, not the opening fix.
Fault ledger
Match the symptom to the next check#
- Windows does not react to the microphone
- Reconnect the device, select it as the input, update its audio driver, and do not troubleshoot the game until the Windows meter works.
- Windows hears the mic but the game does not
- Check desktop-app microphone privacy, the default communication device, Stereo Mix, and the game's selected input.
- Only one PTT channel is silent
- Rebind that channel's push-to-talk action and test on another server before changing the router.
- Voice fails after changing headsets
- Remove the stale in-game input and output choices, select the current headset, restart the game, and test again.
- Every audio and keybind check passes but VOIP remains unavailable
- Try another server, restart the router, and then consider the official IPv6 isolation step. Keep the local settings-folder reset for last.
Field questions
Hell Let Loose Vietnam mic questions#
- Why does my mic work in Discord but not in the game?
- Windows may be routing the game to a different default communication device, blocking desktop-app access, or leaving Stereo Mix or another virtual input selected.
- Should I delete the HLL settings folder first?
- No. That step resets settings and keybinds. Use the reversible device, privacy, format, PTT, server, and network checks first.
- Is this an official Vietnam-specific fix list?
- Team17 currently routes Vietnam support through its Hell Let Loose help center. The steps come from that official VOIP article, while exact menu wording can vary by build.
