Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- Plan for at least two players; the game is designed around co-op communication and teamwork.
- Have one player host the session because the host keeps its saved progress.
- Keep the first two parts of the game version number aligned across the group.

Big Walk is designed around a group#

Decision point
Choose the host's world-size setting#
Use the number of players who are likely to remain for the session. This choice tunes the expected challenge group; it does not set the maximum number who may join.
- 2-player world
- Choose when: Choose this when two players are the reliable core of the session.
- Outcome: The world expects at least two active players, but additional friends may still join later.
- 3-player world
- Choose when: Choose this when three players expect to stay for the session.
- Outcome: The world expects at least three active players; it does not limit the lobby to three.
- 4+ world
- Choose when: Choose this when four or more players form the reliable group.
- Outcome: The world expects at least four active players, and the session can grow toward the 12-player maximum.
Pocket list 04
Plan the group before the host starts#
- Use 2–12 as the supported online player range
- Choose the world size from the players who can reliably stay
- Let the host start the saved session before others join
- Join through the platform friend list or the shared Join Code
- Confirm compatible versions before treating a failed join as a network problem
Field questions
Big Walk player-count questions#
- Can one person play Big Walk alone?
- There is no complete single-player mode. One person can start a session and explore briefly, but the game is built around communication and teamwork and cannot be normally progressed alone.
- Does Big Walk have online matchmaking?
- No. Big Walk does not provide online matchmaking, so you need to coordinate with friends before starting.
- Can more people join a 2-player world?
- Yes. The 2-player choice tunes the world for an expected minimum of two; it does not lower the overall 12-player join limit.
- Does Big Walk support crossplay?
- Yes. House House says the supported platforms can play together. The group can join through friend lists or a Join Code.
- Who keeps the session save?
- The host keeps the session's progress and must start that session before other players join it.
- Do all players need the exact same version number?
- The first two parts of the version number must match. House House says a difference in the third part can still be compatible.
